House committee to review A&M recommendations on K-12 system

The House Education Budget Committee next week will hold an informational briefing on the K-12 recommendations of the Alvarez & Marsal efficiency study.

The briefing will be held at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday and will cover the following recommendations from the A&M report:

— Reducing cash reserves to offset future education funding;

— Centralizing technology positions at the Kansas State Department of Education;

— Having school districts join with the Kansas Department of Administration to "strategically source certain spend categories" in procurement;

— Expanding participation of school districts in group-purchased "pool" insurance programs.
