Committee introduces bills to implement A&M recommendations
The Senate Ways and Means Committee on Monday introduced a number of bills that would implement the recommendations of the Alvarez & Marsal government efficiency study.
Chairman Ty Masterson, R-Andover, said his intention was to start “working through the process” with the proposals. The bills haven't been assigned numbers as of yet.
The $2.6 million study by A&M included dozens of recommendations aimed at saving the state money, including several major proposals that would affect schools, including reducing districts’ cash balances.

The House Education Budget Committee looked at the cash balance issue last week and several members said they were hesitant to reduce those balances because they thought school funding may be cut because of the state's dire revenue situation.
