Federal funding to Kansas schools would be slashed under Trump’s budget proposalScott Rothschild
While education leaders anxiously wait to see what the Legislature does with state school funding, President Donald Trump is proposing cuts on the federal level that would affect Kansas schools.
Here is a link to KASB’s analysis of the proposed cuts, which if enacted could reduce federal funding to Kansas schools by $48 million, or 15 percent. KASB urges Kansas school leaders to contact their members of Congress to explain how cuts would negatively impact student success.
In addition, Trump’s budget would allocate $1 billion to expand vouchers to private schools that are not subject to the same legal requirements as public schools.
