KASB announces second class to participate in BOLD program

KASB Leadership Services recently announced its second class to participate in the Business Operations Leadership Development (BOLD) program. The program focuses on developing knowledge on building and facilities master planning, technology planning, finance strategies, procurement processes, school security, risk management and human resources. BOLD includes six day-long training sessions that were developed by KASB leadership staff, KASB partners and experts from across the state. KASB BOLD (Business Operations Leadership Development), a leadership development opportunity for new superintendents (within the first two years in their position) and aspiring superintendents, is seeking applications for the 2018-2019 cohort class. Application deadline is Sept. 14, 2018. The 2018-2019 class will be announced by Sept. 21, 2018, and the first class session is scheduled for Oct. 23 and 24. SBR: BOLD class explores crisis management

The fifth session for the new KASB BOLD program was held in April in Topeka. The group of 20 administrators from across Kansas spent the first afternoon gaining knowledge and skills on crisis management. Discussions included developing plans for communication during and after a crisis event and the need to consider the long-term effects of stress related to crisis events. The group spent the next day working on human resource management, including best practices for opening a position; how to handle the application; vetting and interview procedures; and hiring the best fit for the job. KASB BOLD leadership program delves into crisis management during two day session

The fifth session for the new KASB BOLD program will be held today and tomorrow at KASB in Topeka. The group of 20 administrators from across Kansas will spend Thursday afternoon gaining knowledge and skills on crisis management. Members will share crisis planning models used in their own districts, then participate in crisis response scenarios such as responding to threats and reducing school violence. KASB BOLD leadership program holds sessions in Basehor-Linwood

The KASB BOLD program will focus on insurance and food service during sessions today and tomorrow.  The Business and Operations Leadership Development (BOLD) program will be held in the Basehor-Linwood USD 458 High School Tech Center.  Experts will be leading sessions on property and casualty insurance, risk management services, employer paid benefits, health insurance and food service.  KASB Leadership Services’ BOLD program provides training to district-level leaders. KASB BOLD heads to Spring Hill for instruction in construction

Just about everything you need to know about planning, financing and constructing a school building project is on the agenda for this week’s KASB BOLD class gathering. The business and operations leadership development program includes 20 school administrators from across Kansas, meeting in Spring Hill today and tomorrow for the third session in KASB’s newest leadership development program.   Thursday’s agenda includes how to put together a project team and develop a plan, how to engage the  community in the pre-bond planning phase, how to run the bond election and campaign and a primer on financing the project using municipal bonds. Inaugural BOLD class gathers

The inaugural KASB BOLD (Business Operations Leadership Development) class gathered this week to launch the organization’s latest service for new and aspiring superintendents. The program is similar to KASB’s Leadership for Tomorrow program, but focuses on the financial, facilities and planning side of leading a school district. Deadline is Sept. 15 to apply for KASB’s new BOLD leadership program
