About This Event:

Developing cultural proficiency gives board members and district leaders the necessary insights and awareness needed to create communities of inclusion in our schools and to boost the achievement of all students. This informative and interactive workshop will equip you to lead the changes necessary to improve educational access and opportunity for every student. Topics will include implicit bias and perceiving differences, how to enable individuals and organizations to respond effectively to people who differ from them and understanding the change process and its impact on people. Outcomes for this workshop include: 

  • Develop an understanding of what cultural proficiency is and why it is important.
  • Explore the school board’s and district leadership’s role in developing and promoting cultural proficiency.
  • Gain awareness of the complexities of the change process and how people adapt to new ideas.
  • Identify key elements of a plan for improving cultural proficiency within your district and organization.
