KASB Events

Each year at KASB, we plan and develop workshops and events to help promote and develop our members to be prepared to help Kansas students succeed. As we continue to support our members with quality events throughout the year, we host larger annual events that connect members across the state and country. These opportunities allow each member to collaborate, network, and grow as we all lead, serve, and advocate for student success.

Upcoming Events

Leading a school district is no simple task. Best practices, regulations, and policies frequently change, making it difficult to keep up. We proudly offer events and training throughout the year to prepare our members for the challenges and opportunities of educational leadership. Take a look at some of our upcoming events.

All registrations close one week before the event.

KASB Day at the Capitol with an image of the capitol dome

KASB Day At the Capitol

Join us Thursday, March 21, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

As Kansas lawmakers gear up for crucial votes before their April 5 deadline to pass bills, our Day at the Capitol puts you in the forefront of key conversations just before this pivotal week of floor votes.

Start your day with an update on the issues led by KASB Advocacy staff.  Together, you will also workshop key messages that will prepare you for productive conversations with legislators.

Then, it's off to the Capitol for a day dedicated to advocacy. Plan to meet with your lawmakers  to share the good news about your local public schools and students, attend committee hearings and observe floor debates. All while networking with fellow Kansas school board members.

Lunch will be on your own in the Statehouse cafeteria or at a nearby restaurant. You may also bring your own lunch, if you prefer.

Best of all, this incredible opportunity to make a difference and be a voice for Kansas education is absolutely free!

KASB’s Foundations of Boardsmanship provides dynamic, interactive presentations and time for collaboration and discussion focused around the skills and knowledge you need to be an exceptional board member. Foundations of Boardsmanship training is useful for any board of education member - newly elected, just appointed or veteran. Topics include (1) establishing the vision for the district; (2) setting priorities and goals; (3) creating policies; (4) hiring and evaluating the superintendent of schools; (5) holding the superintendent accountable for accomplishing district goals; and (6) helping build support for public education.
