K-12 Chairman Patton to appear on KASB Newsmakers at 10 a.m. FridayScott Rothschild
The chairman of the House K-12 Education Budget Committee will discuss school finance and other issues during a KASB Newsmakers interview at 10 a.m. Friday.
State Rep. Fred Patton, R-Topeka, has scheduled a busy week next week for the committee as the deadline approaches for the completion of the school finance study commissioned by legislative leaders.
On Monday, the K-12 panel will receive a peer review presentation of past school finance studies; on Tuesday and Wednesday, the committee will receive briefings on early childhood education and Thursday will be devoted to informational hearings on transportation weighting legislation.
The following week, on Friday, March 16, the K-12 Committee and Senate Select Committee on Education Finance will receive the school finance study conducted by Dr. Lori Taylor of Texas A&M University and Jason Willis, a consultant with WestEd.
Patton is a former KASB president and is currently president of the Seaman USD 345 school board.
