KASB Newsmakers to interview former Kansas education commissioner DeBacker about her new state positionScott Rothschild
Former Kansas Education Commissioner Diane DeBacker, who has recently returned to state government, will sit down for a KASB Newsmakers interview on Friday, Jan. 26.
Gov. Sam Brownback in December appointed DeBacker to the post of Executive Director of Business and Education Innovation in the Kansas Department of Commerce. She will be a liaison between the governor’s office, schools and businesses to ensure students are learning the skills they need to fill private sector jobs in Kansas.
DeBacker served as Education Commissioner for four years, immediately preceding current Commissioner Randy Watson. She was a senior advisor the the Dubai education system and most recently was director of education research at RTI International in North Carolina.
KASB will interview DeBacker live at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 26 to learn more about her goals and plans to help Kansas achieve the State Board of Education’s goals for the success of each student.
