Dr. Brian Jordan KASB Deputy Director/ Leadership Services Email Brian
Brian began his career as a teacher at Washburn Rural High School. He then moved on to teach and serve as an administrator at North Heights High School in Allen, Kansas. Most recently he has served a principal, director and assistant superintendent in Emporia Public Schools here in Kansas. At KASB, Brian has responsibilities for training in the areas of evaluation, managing change and board development. He was named KASB Deputy Director in March 2019.
Brian received his bachelor's degree from Kansas State University, and his master's degree at Emporia State University, and completed his doctorate degree at Kansas State University.
Dr. Doug Moeckel Leadership Services Field Specialist Email Doug
Doug's primary duties include whole board training, superintendent searches and strategic planning. His experiences include 31 years in education including district, secondary and elementary administration, teaching and coaching. He served as superintendent of schools in Ellsworth prior to joining KASB.
He received his bachelor’s degree from Kansas State University, master’s from Fort Hays State University and doctorate from Kansas State University. Doug has served in various leadership roles including Council of Superintendents, chair of the Smoky Hill Superintendent Advisory Council and is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Kansas Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development.
Gary Sechrist Leadership Services Field Specialist Email Gary
Gary has been in educational leadership since 1992, and has served as both a building level and district level administrator throughout his career. He was named Superintendent of Promise in 2010 and was honored as the MetLife Principal of the Year in 2006. He has served on numerous educational committees and has presented around the nation on topics focused on leadership and education. Prior to joining KASB, Gary was at Lyons USD 405 where he served first as building principal and then superintendent. He received both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Fort Hays State University.
Dr. Marcia Weseman Leadership Services Consultant
Marcia served as a district and building-level leader and a teacher for more than three decades across a wide range of Kansas districts from a small rural district to large school districts. Her district leadership responsibilities included curriculum and human resources.
Most recently, she has served as manager of community programs and prevention for Crittenton Children’s Center, Kansas City, MO, where she provided training and consulting services for school-based clients implementing trauma and resiliency initiatives.
Marcia often serves as an adjunct instructor for the University of Kansas, where she teaches online classes for the Educational Policy and Leadership Program.
She received both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Washburn University, Topeka, KS, and completed her doctorate degree at the University of Kansas, Lawrence, KS.

Randy Weseman Assistant Executive Director / Operations Email Randy
Randy is a member of the KASB Leadership Services Team. He served as superintendent of schools for both Lawrence USD 497 and Tonganoxie USD 464 prior to joining KASB. A native of Dighton, Kansas, Randy began his education career in Lawrence as a teacher and administrator. His career has included service in the Air Force and as a private consultant.
Dr. Britton Hart Director of Leadership Services and Partnerships Email Britton
Britton is director of leadership services and partnerships for KASB. Prior to joining KASB, he served as Emporia High School, Emporia, Kansas, principal from 2013-2019. He was also assistant principal and athletic director at EHS. Previous administrative experience includes assistant principal and athletic director at Prairie View High School in LaCygne, Kansas. He began his education career at Olathe North High School, Olathe, Kansas, teaching technology education and coaching track.
Britton has served in many leadership roles in Kansas, including most recently president of the Kansas State High School Activities Association Executive Board, Kansas Association of Secondary School Principals second vice-president and mentor for the Kansas Education Leadership Institute.
His distinguished service awards include Kansas Association of Secondary School Principals 2016 Secondary Principal of the Year, North Central Kansas Music Educators Association 2018 Outstanding Administrator of the Year, Baker University Alumni Wall of Honor and EHS Senior Class 2019 Award of Merit.
He received his bachelor’s degree from Pittsburg State University, Pittsburg, Kansas, and his master’s and doctorate degrees from Baker University, Baldwin City, Kansas.
Sue Givens Leadership Services Field Specialist Email Sue
Sue Givens served as superintendent of schools (2007-2019) in El Dorado USD 490. Previous leadership experience included time as a district and building-level leader in Pratt, Renwick and Stafford. She has served in numerous leadership roles including president of the Kansas School Superintendents Association, president and secretary-treasurer of the Kansas Association of Middle School Principals, president of the United School Administrators of Kansas and chair of the Kansas Learning First Alliance.
She has been honored with several distinguished awards including Kansas Master Teacher, Keys for Networking Principal of the Year, USA-Kansas Distinguished Service Award, Leadership Kansas Class of 2013, Ingram’s “50 Kansans You Should Know”, 2017 Kansas Superintendent of the Year, 2017 Emporia State University Distinguished Alumni and 2018 KSSA Distinguished Service Award recipient.
She earned a bachelor of science degree in elementary education and math from Emporia State University and a master’s degree in educational administration from Wichita State University.
