Have briefs, will travel. KASB Legal/Policy Services department coming to a town near youScott Rothschild
KASB’s Legal/Policy Services department will be on the road over the next few weeks and will be happy to visit member districts to offer training or legal updates.
The Summer Regional Roundtables for Boards take place July 30-August 8 across Kansas; the schedule is available here. In addition, KASB attorneys are scheduled to present staff inservices in the first week of August, and Donna Whiteman will represent KASB at the August 5 State Blue Ribbon Task Force in Salina. Members should take advantage of the legal road trip to gain valuable insights for your board and staff.
The KASB Legal Department can offer training on numerous topics that may include Negotiations; School Law for Teachers and Boards; Preventing Sexual Harassment; Bullying; Student Discipline; Social Media – It’s a Tool-Not a Friend; Special Education – What Schools Must Provide; Seclusion and Restraint Regulations; and Section 504 Accommodations for Students and Staff.
“KASB’s attorneys provide training and information to help board members understand their role and responsibility both as a board of education and individually as board members,” said Assistant Executive Director for Legal Services Angie Stallbaumer. “We update members on new and emerging legal developments and offer training on ‘hot topics’ that arise throughout the school year. We encourage our members to contact us to schedule a session for board members, administrators and staff.”
