KASB Leadership for Tomorrow 2019 class graduates

KASB’s Leadership for Tomorrow Class of 2019 recently completed its year with programming around self-reflection, school redesign and continuous improvement, and skillfully leading important work in their school districts.

The Leadership for Tomorrow program gives board members, superintendents and administrators opportunities to study change theories and strategies, participate in leadership skill training and expand understanding of education key issues through onsite visits and presentations. Through five two-day sessions, the class visited local schools in Beloit, North Ottawa, Coffeyville, Neodesha, Lakin, Garden City, and Manhattan and participated in class discussions on issues and challenges facing Kansas education.

Keith Griffin, Seaman USD 345 board of education, said visiting schools and getting to know his classmates were just two of many reasons the experience was beneficial.

“Last Spring I didn’t know anyone in the class, and now not only have I have gained some good friends, but my resources as a board member are greater than they were before,” he said.

This is the 15th KASB Leadership for Tomorrow Graduating Class. To date the program has had 275 graduates, of which 134 were Board of Education Members, 137 were District Administrators and four were KASB Staff Members.  The class was honored at a graduation lunch Dec. 7 in Wichita atKASB’s 2019 Annual Conference, and also recognized during the annual conference closing general session.
