Workshop on saving energy costs set for Thursday, May 16 in Topeka

School officials and others are invited to attend a free workshop on energy performance contracts from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, May 16 in Topeka at the Washburn Tech Conference Center, 5724 SW Huntoon St.

The workshop, hosted by the Kansas State University Engineering Extension, is aimed at helping officials save money on energy costs without large upfront capital costs and how the Kansas Corporation Commission’s Facility Conservation Improvement Program (FCIP) can assist in this effort.

Attendees will hear from national experts Tim Unruh, executive director of the National Association of Energy Service Companies and Dale Hahs, state liaison team manager of the Energy Services Coalition. Representatives of Bonner Springs USD 204 and the cities of Lawrence, Eudora and Bonner Springs will share their experiences in going through the FCIP process.
