Some of the major items up for study by interim legislative committees and other panels include the new school finance law, how school districts purchase goods and services and employee health insurance. There also is a task force studying the state’s child welfare and foster care systems and a panel working on recommendations to address mental health issues in schools.
In addition, there are a host of initiatives pushed by President Donald Trump and U.S. Education Secretary Betsy DeVos and other federal issues.
