Education leaders share information on student safety during KASB, USA Fall Regional TourScott Rothschild
KASB regional vice presidents Gina McGowan and Lori Blake on Wednesday spoke about the benefits of meeting with other school district officials to talk about student safety.
McGowan, who is vice president of Region 7, and Blake, who is vice president of Region 5, discussed the KASB, USA-Kansas Fall Regional meeting in McPherson. Their Facebook Live conversation can be seen here.
So far, the meetings, which have been held in Pratt, Haysville, Greenbush, Lawrence, Emporia and McPherson, have produced wide-ranging discussions, focusing both on making school facilities more secure and meeting the emotional needs of all students.
McGowan, who is a member of the Ellsworth USD 327 school board, and Blake, a member of the Southeast of Saline USD 306 school board, said hearing about what is going on in other school districts validates what is going on in their districts and gives them information to take back to their school boards.
Blake also said the professional development that KASB provides “really translates back to our home communities.”
The regional tour continues tonight in Manhattan and then will meet in Garden City, Oct. 16; Colby, Oct. 17 and Beloit on Oct. 18.
