KASB Events

Each year at KASB, we plan and develop workshops and events to help promote and develop our members to be prepared to help Kansas students succeed. As we continue to support our members with quality events throughout the year, we host larger annual events that connect members across the state and country. These opportunities allow each member to collaborate, network, and grow as we all lead, serve and advocate for student success.

All sessions run from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. and focus on practical skills and insights you can apply immediately in your board service. Each phase of the series builds on the last:

Phase 1: Building the Foundation
We’ll focus on the essentials — board orientation, governance roles, and the legal and financial basics every board member needs to lead with confidence.

Phase 2: Strategy & Advocacy
This phase shifts to planning, board climate, advocacy, and reflection — helping boards think strategically and align their work with district goals.

Phase 3: Leadership & HR
We’ll dive into superintendent evaluation, conflict management, human capital, and long-term sustainability to strengthen leadership at every level.

Each session will tackle a different topic, giving board members practical insights they can apply right away. Join one session or attend them all — it’s up to you! Either way, you’ll walk away with practical leadership skills and insights you can put to work immediately in your board service.
