Each year at KASB, we plan and develop workshops and events to help promote and develop our members to be prepared to help Kansas students succeed. As we continue to support our members with quality events throughout the year, we host larger annual events that connect members across the state and country. These opportunities allow each member to collaborate, network, and grow as we all lead, serve and advocate for student success.

Seminar: Harassment, Discrimination & Bullying

Thursday, Aug. 7, from 9 a.m to 3 p.m. in Topeka

Handling bullying, harassment and discrimination issues isn’t easy. These situations are often complex, emotional and deeply personal—and school leaders are expected to respond quickly and confidently, while remaining compliant with the law.

KASB’s Legal Team is offering a new seminar designed to give you the clarity you need to support students and employees, protect your district and stay in compliance—no matter how complicated the situation.

Together, we’ll discuss:

  • Kansas bullying law, definition of bullying and relevant case studies
  • Laws and requirements for harassment and discrimination based on sex, disability and race

Join the KASB Leadership Team for a full-day Board Leadership Teams workshop in Derby or Topeka. This session is designed for leaders who want to strengthen their skills and support stronger collaboration within the board team.

Student Discipline Workshop

Tuesday, Aug. 26, in Topeka OR Tuesday, Sept. 23 in Hays. Both trainings will be 9 a.m to 3 p.m.

Join one of our Student Discipline Workshops to receive all the legal help and best practices you need to manage student discipline with confidence.

At this full-day workshop, you’ll learn the legal basis for disciplinary actions, as well as steps to carry out disciplinary processes, including suspension and expulsion. Walk away with knowledge of legal requirements and practical administrator tools so that you can make the best decisions for your district.

Safe Schools & Threat Preparedness

Safe Schools & Threat Preparedness

KASB is partnering with the Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE) Safe and Secure Schools Unit, Kansas Bureau of Investigation, Kansas Attorney General’s Office and multiple federal agencies to provide regional school safety trainings and educational briefings.

The intent of these trainings is to coordinate information from local, state and federal partners to provide quality training and support to students and staff. Consultants from the Safe and Secure Schools Unit will provide these trainings across the state to cultivate connections and relationships between school resource officers, mental health counselors, administrators and local law enforcement officials.

All trainings will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Don’t miss out on this opportunity — register now for the location and date that works best for you:
