KASB Welcomes Wendy Johnson to Our Communications Services Team
KASB is excited to welcome Wendy Johnson, APR IOM, to the team as our new District Communications Specialist! With more than 25 years leading communications for Wichita Public Schools, Wendy has seen firsthand how strong, intentional communication helps districts build trust and connect with their communities.
In Wichita, she led a talented team supporting the largest district in the state. Her passion for public education runs deep — rooted in family ties to Wichita and a career devoted to making sure schools and communities work hand in hand. Additional career experience includes leadership roles at WSU, Kansas Newman (now Newman University), the Kansas Cosmosphere, and the Wichita Chamber.
“Every day my work has been about how to create a better environment for kids to be successful,” Wendy says. “Even though I wasn’t in the classroom, my role was about supporting kids’ potential.”
Now, she’s excited to bring that passion and experience to districts across Kansas. She knows that every district is different — and many don’t have full communications teams. That’s where she wants to help, by offering practical tools, resources and support that fit each district’s unique needs and community.
You’ll see Wendy working with ACES and other projects, always focused on helping districts strengthen trust, transparency and meaningful connections.
Of course, there’s more to Wendy than her distinguished career. She’s a Mickey Mouse memorabilia collector, a fitness enthusiast, a brand-new golfer and an avid traveler who’s on a mission with her husband to visit all 50 states.
At the heart of it all, Wendy’s philosophy is simple: communication is about building trust and creating opportunities for kids. “Your zip code should not determine the opportunities you can consider for your future,” she says.
We’re thrilled to have Wendy on board and can’t wait for you to get to know her as she partners with districts across Kansas.
