The KASB Board of Directors met Aug. 22, 2026, at the Kansas Association of School Boards office.

Dr. Jake Steel, commissioner of education, addressed the Board of Directors and Legislative Committee, sharing his vision and priorities for public education in Kansas. Board members received updates and discussed statewide education initiatives.

The Board of Directors and Legislative Committee met jointly to review legislative priorities and receive information about the upcoming Legislative Listening Tour. Following the joint session, the Legislative Committee continued with its regular meeting.

The board approved the meeting agenda and consent agenda items and considered a proposed amendment to the KASB Constitution. The amendment will be presented to the membership for consideration at the Delegate Assembly. The board also received updates on the 2026 KASB Annual Convention and Delegate Assembly.

Executive Director Dr. Brian Jordan provided updates on association activities, organizational initiatives, member services and other matters affecting KASB operations. He also reminded board members about the Western Region Meeting, scheduled for Sept. 17-19, 2026, in Wichita.

Region demographic information was shared with region vice presidents to support planning, member engagement and leadership activities within their respective regions.

The next meeting of the KASB Board of Directors is scheduled for Nov. 5, 2026, in Wichita.
