  • A) KASB is a non-profit service organization with a strong belief in Kansas public schools. Since 1917, we have prioritized the needs of school districts, providing support, expertise, and resources to help every Kansas student succeed. Our mission is to improve educational outcomes by partnering with board members, superintendents, and district staff, offering a range of services, and fostering a culture of collaboration to ensure transparency and accountability. We strive to be a trusted voice in Kansas education, advocating for the interests of public schools and the students they serve and promoting honest and ethical decision-making in our work.

  • A) Why should your district become a KASB member? Here are a few reasons:

    1. Expert Support – KASB provides expert guidance, resources, and support to help districts navigate the complex landscape of education. From legal advice to leadership development, districts can access a wealth of knowledge and expertise.
    2. State & Federal Advocacy Representation – As a member, districts gain a collective voice in advocating for policies that benefit Kansas students and schools. KASB actively engages in legislative advocacy, representing the interests of its members and working to shape education policies at the state level.
    3. Networking and Collaboration – Membership offers opportunities for networking and collaboration with other districts and education professionals. Districts can share best practices, learn from one another, and build valuable connections to enhance their educational programs.
    4. Professional Development – KASB offers a wide range of professional development opportunities, including workshops, training sessions, and online courses. These resources help district staff, board members, and administrators stay updated on the latest trends, best practices, and regulations in education.
    5. Access to Resources - KASB provides access to a wealth of resources, including research reports, data analysis, publications, and tools that can support districts in their decision-making and planning processes.

  • A) The KASB Advocacy staff analyzes issues and develops consensus positions that reflect the broad KASB membership.

  • A) Our testimony is determined by the legislative positions adopted each year by our members.

  • A) The KASB legal staff provides legal trainings on a wide range of topics in a variety of settings. From in depth seminars and practicums to staff in-services and customized group trainings, both in person and virtually, we can meet your legal training needs wherever you are. Staying current and compliant on legal matters is vital to good governance.

  • A) As a legal team supporting public schools and community and technical colleges in Kansas, we specialize in all things education law, including employment issues, student discipline, negotiations, and other legal matters impacting schools.   • A) As part of LAF dues, a KASB attorney is available by phone for questions and consultation with LAF members on the second Monday of the month from 5 pm – 10 pm. If your board needs assistance on a different day or time, don't hesitate to contact one of the KASB attorneys to determine availability.

  • A) Season Pass is a membership program offered by the Kansas Association of School Boards (KASB). For an annual fee of $1,750, Season Pass provides year-long access to a variety of events and online content, including workshops, seminars, and online courses. Members can involve multiple board and leadership team members, enjoy simplified registration and billing processes, and access exclusive KASB+ content. It's a cost-effective way for school board members and staff to enhance professional development and gain valuable resources throughout the year. Contact us to learn more.

  • ​​​​​​AKASB+ is our online content center which provides members a one-stop shop to take online courses, access helpful resources, explore data and trends, and learn more about KASB services. Whereas the Member Portal allows members to register and pay for courses and events, complete and verify annual survey data, maintain district user and account information, and sign-up for subscriptions and purchase products, such as award plaques.
